Barefoot Rugs is a small business established in 1996 by fiber artist, Susan Buswell. Susan creates one of a kind hand hooked rugs in her New England studio that reflect her love of nature, landscapes and color, while her workmanship demonstrates her commitment to quality.

Using a hand held punch needle, a tool invented in the 1800s, Susan creates the rugs one loop at a time, a method likened to painting with wool. We use the highest quality rug wool yarn and an all cotton monk's cloth backing. The end result is a unique work of art that will provide years of enjoyment. The rugs are thick, durable and with proper care will last for generations. Susan brings an expressionist's eye to the landscapes of New England. Her work captures the vibrancy of the natural world through her unique use of textures, pattern and color.
